2025年，北加州公共傳媒製作了十集的環保紀錄片「加州氣候」；從多個角度探討改善氣候變遷的辦法。在「加州氣候」第十集中，這套紀錄片的製作小組專程前往位於北加州聖塔克魯茲的紅木禪林，訪問法界佛教總會兩位比丘，近傳法師與近威法師。
In 2025, Northern California Public Media produced a ten episode environmental documentary series titled Climate California, exploring ways to address climate change from multiple perspectives. In the tenth episode, the production team traveled to Redwood Vihara in Santa Cruz, Northern California, to interview two monks from Dharma Realm Buddhist Association: Dharma Master Jin Chuan and Dharma Master Jin Wei.
「加州氣候」紀錄片從生態、經濟（包括就業）、社會、心理、乃至宗教等多個角度切入，探討氣候變遷的成因、衝擊、以及解決辦法。紀錄片呈現了許多人的故事，提醒觀眾這個世界的自然之美，以及我們所擁有的力量。
The docuseries California Climate approaches the topic from multiple angles—including ecology, economics (such as employment), society, psychology, and even religion—to explore the causes, impacts, and possible solutions to climate change through the stories of people who remind us of the beauty of the world and the power we already have.
「加州氣候」第十集中，導演兼主持人利賢証問，從慾望與恐懼中解脫固然很有幫助，但即使我們大家都找到內心的祥和平靜，這樣是否就夠了呢？如何在「內心的平靜感」與「時代的迫切感」之間取得平衡？
In the tenth episode of the Climate California, Charles Loi, director and host of this docuseries, asked, “Freeing ourselves of desire and fear is helpful, but even if all of us found inner peace, I wonder if that would be enough? How do you balance a sense of peace with a sense of urgency?”
近傳師表示，這是佛教徒因應當前世界局勢正在學習的課題，我們需要真正將慈悲帶到世界上。採取快速行動，卻缺乏清晰覺察，會製造更多問題。近威師舉例説，紅木禪林所在的聖塔克魯茲山脈，很多墾荒者為了預防土石流，想要快點解決問題，因此引進了植被金雀花，卻大大增加火災風險。
DM Jin Chuan said, “This is something Buddhism is learning given the current conditions of the world. We need to actually take compassion out into the world…Moving with speed without clarity creates more problems.” DM Jin Wei gave an example by saying, “We are in the Santa Cruz mountains. Here, settlers, in order to avoid landslides, wanted a quick solution and planted Scotch broom (Cytisus scoparius) which increases tremendously the risk of fire.”
近威師又表示：我們常説要如何捕捉「成」的瞬間，比如在亞馬遜網站點擊「購買」的那一刻，「喔，現在它是我的了。」以此而刷存在感。事實上，「成」是每分每秒都在發生的事，如果我們開始連結另一個故事，回到我們自性的圓滿，我們的潛力是什麼？
DM Jin Wei also pointed out that we often say how we can capture the moment of becoming when you click in Amazon, buy it in a moment, like: Oh now it’s mine. Oh, I exist. In fact, “Becoming” happens second by second, moment by moment. If we start to connect with another story returning to our fullness, what is our potential?
近傳師則説：「我們常感到精疲力竭，是因為我們執著於事情必須按特定方式發展，而結果卻不如所願。事實上，你可以單純地去體驗當下的感受，而不必急著進入下一步：不去渴求、不去排斥，也不讓自己變得麻木。你就只是完全處於當下，那就是發出慈悲的地方。 那種能夠承擔痛苦、與地球正經歷的苦難產生共鳴、觀察它、關懷它，並從痛苦本身之中，讓療癒的過程油然而生的能力。」
DM Jin Chuan said, “We often get burned out because we want something to happen in a certain way and it doesn’t happen in the way we want it. You can experience what your experience is without going to the next step of craving or pushing away or becoming numb. You can just be fully there present. That’s where compassion is born. The ability to hold the pain, be attuned to the pain, and suffering that the earth is going through, observe it, care for it, and then from within the pain itself some process of healing arises.”
這段訪談已於2025年9月23日和24日晚間，分別在舊金山灣區的兩個公共電視頻道KRCB22台（北灣）和KPJK60台（南灣）首播。製作小組也曾到萬佛城拍攝萬佛殿內部畫面，於第九集中播出。利賢証就萬佛殿畫面的配音是：在我成長期間，曾和奶奶一起到萬佛城。有位朋友對我説過，因為我不信耶穌，所以將來我會下地獄。這聽起來可不好玩。奶奶告訴我，所有的神佛代表著同樣的真理，每一尊都是不同的佛，也是不同的智慧與眾妙之源。
This interview was premiered locally on the evenings of September 23 and 24, 2025, on two public television channels in the San Francisco Bay Area: KRCB Channel 22 (North Bay) and KPJK Channel 60 (South Bay). The production team also visited the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas to film the interior of the Buddha Hall, which was featured in the ninth episode. Regarding this footage, Charles Loi provided the following voiceover: “When I was growing up, I remember asking my grandma about God. We were visiting a temple, the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. A friend had told me that because I didn’t believe in Jesus, I was going to hell which did not sound fun. My grandma told me that all these gods are actually different representations of the same truth. Each of them is a different Buddha, a different source of wisdom and wonder.”
「加州氣候」紀錄片將自2026年一月份起，在全美各地的公共電視台播出。每週播出一集，預計三月中旬之前播畢。屆時，「加州氣候」十集完整內容都將上網，並將在舊金山灣區KRCB22台與KPJK60台重播。
A national version of the docuseries, Climate California, will be released across PBS starting in January, 2026. One episode will air each week, with the series expected to conclude by mid-March. At that time, all ten episodes of California Climate will be availableonline, and the series will be rerun on KRCB22 and KPJK60. ♦
