萬佛城培德中學男校初高中的畢業典禮於2025年6月5日，在萬佛城的道源堂舉行。
On June 5, 2025, the graduation ceremony for the eighth and twelfth graders of Developing Virtue Secondary School was held in the Confucius Hall at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas.
道源堂的南牆上懸著三幅巨大的畫像，中間為釋迦牟尼佛，其左為虛老畫像，其右則是上人的畫像，每次一走進去便覺肅穆、寧靜。而今天有所不同：畫像前搭著高臺，臺下左右排著兩列椅子，四處懸浮著各式各樣的氫氣球，氣球表面一律是“GRADUATION”（畢業）的字樣，學生和來賓們的臉上也都洋溢著興奮和喜悅的柔光。今天道源堂的氣氛是如此的莊嚴而又輕快。
Three huge portraits hang on the walls of the Confucius Hall—Shakyamuni Buddha in the middle, Venerable Master Empty Cloud on the left, and Venerable Master Hua on the right. Those who enter are struck with a sense of solemnity and peacefulness.
But today was different: a stage stood in front of the portrait, with two rows of chairs on each of its sides. Various helium balloons were suspended throughout the room, the word “GRADUATION” written on their surfaces. The faces of the students and guests were filled with the soft light of excitement and joy. The atmosphere in Confucius Hall was solemn yet celebratory.

There were three high school graduates this year: Lucas Wu from Brazil, and Puze Gong and Steven Li from China. There were a total of seven eighth grade graduates. 首先發言的是兩位男校教師代表，他們是中文部的近巖法師和男校行政主管葛兼數學老師親翰。近巖師為學生們在品行方面的成長感到欣慰，並如此激勵學生們：「教育不只是傳授知識，更是喚醒智慧。當我們了解因果法則時，便開啟了智慧。我們每一次選擇便是種下一顆種子；每一個動作，都會引發漣漪。如果我們培養善因──善良、自律、誠實──就會產生結果。就這樣，我們活得「災不招我，我不招災。」
The first speakers were two teachers from the Boys’ School, Dharma Master Jinyan from the Chinese department and Mr. Juan Gracia, the school administrator.
DM Jinyan expressed his pleasure with the students‘ growth in character and encouraged them with the following mottos: Education is more than knowledge—it’s about awakening wisdom. And wisdom begins when we understand the Law of Cause and Effect. Every choice we make is a seed; every actiona ripple. If we cultivate good causes—kindness, discipline, honesty—the effects will follow. In this way, we live so that misfortune does not come to me, for I do not invite misfortune.
葛親翰老師則針對千變萬化、紛繁複雜的時勢，殷殷叮囑學生們萬變不離其宗的辦法：「不要只關注自己，將眼光放大到眾生，你便能發現自己的未來將無限開闊起來，一切也都會好起來的。不要擔心那些你無法控制的事情，專注於你的周遭，提升自己，努力幫助別人。」
In response to the ever-changing and complex present situation, Mr. Juan Gracia earnestly reminded the students: “Don’t just focus on yourself — expand your vision to all living beings. Then you will see that your future opens up and everything will be fine. Don’t worry about things you can’t control—focus on your surroundings, improve yourself, try to help others.”
教師代表發言之後便是畢業生家長發言。這三位畢業生的父母都是千里迢迢趕來參加他們的畢業典禮。不僅如此，幾年前，這幾位家長把還是青少年的孩子帶來交給聖城，而今「收穫」的是一個個成熟、積極，有待同風而起的十八歲青年。你能想像這幾位家長將是怎樣的心潮澎湃？我們來聽一聽他們的心聲吧。After the speeches from the teacher representatives, the parents of the graduates spoke. They all came from far away to attend their graduation ceremony. Not only that, but a few years ago, these parents brought their teenage children to CTTB, and now these children return as mature and optimistic 18-year-olds who are ready to rise with any challenge. Imagine the turbulent emotions of the parents!
吳濱帆的父親感慨七八年前第一次來聖城時，被學校孩子的真誠善良所感而立願自己的孩子將來也來這裡上學。如今看到孩子入學三年來發生的巨大變化，這位父親對學校以及學校法師、老師的引導表達了最真誠的感謝，同時希望學校純潔、善良的風氣將來能得以進一步發揚。
Lucas Wu’s father said that when he first came to CTTB seven or eight years ago, he was so moved by the sincerity and kindness of the children in the school that he vowed that his own child would also come here to study in the future. Seeing the tremendous changes that have taken place in his child over the past three years, the father expressed his sincerest gratitude to the school and the school’s Dharma Masters and teachers for their guidance. He also hopes that the school’s pure and kind atmosphere can be further promoted in the future.
龔普澤的母親從普澤的出生講起，描述了孩子帶給全家的改變和啟迪，以及孩子在男校的四年的變化——成長為一個能夠安忍、反省，又懂得承擔的青年，同時又保留了他最珍貴的忠厚、真誠、直心。這一切都有賴於家庭、學校、佛友共同的努力。
Puze Gong’s mother started from Puze’s birth, describing the changes and realizations the child brought to the whole family, as well as the ways he has changed during his four years in the boys’ school, growing into a young man who is able to be patient, reflective, and responsible while retaining his precious loyalty, sincerity, and straightforwardness, thanks to the joint efforts of his family, the school, and their Buddhist friends.
李銀峻的媽媽也同樣回顧了孩子來男校讀書的整個過程。當初，她以「未來的你一定會感謝現在的你」來鼓勵孩子們選擇先苦後甜的人生道路——來萬佛城經驗獨立、自由、創新的中西結合的教育。而此期間孩子們培養起來的尊老愛幼、利他、踏實做事、精進學習等人生態度，令這位媽媽萬分的安慰和感動。Steven Li’s mother also described the entire journey of her child attending the boys’ school. At the beginning, she encouraged the him to choose a path in life that would lead to hardship before happiness by saying, “Your future self will definitely thank your present self.” This path was to come to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas to experience an independent, free, and innovative education that combines Chinese and Western cultures. During this period, he accrued important values such as altruism, hard work, diligent study, and respecting the elderly and loving the young. Seeing these changes in him, his mother was extremely comforted and moved.
這些小樹苗在萬佛城男校成長為枝繁葉茂的大樹，接下來，他們就將帶著這一股浩然正氣邁向下一個階段的學習。而男校2016年的畢業生葛漢鐸，分享了他在哈佛大學求學時的寶貴經驗。他以電腦科學期末考為例，強調了在大學裡主動性和學術誠信的重要性，通過一些有趣的事例和實用的建議，將自己對未來的見解帶給了全體學生。
These Boys’ School students have grown from young saplings into lush and verdant trees. Next, they will move on to their next stage of study with this strong foundation. Alejandro Gracia-Zhang, a 2016 graduate of the Boys’ School, shared his valuable experience studying at Harvard University. He emphasized the importance of taking initiative and academic integrity in college, using examples from his own experience, such as his computer science final. Offering witty stories and relatable advice, he gave students important insights into their futures.

After that, Dr. Ben Nguyen, teacher of mathematics and chemistry, gave seven pieces of advice to guide graduates in their futures, including to stay hungry, be humble, and take risks. He told them that graduation is only the start of an unlimited future, and that they will encounter setbacks and failures, but they are opportunities for growth and for them to understand themselves better. “Gratitude is your competitive advantage,” he said, highlighting the importance of gratitude in leading a happy life, not just a successful one. With his seven guidelines, he encourages graduates to go forth with passion and curiosity to write their futures.
嘉賓發言之後便是一系列頒獎儀式：
- 黃任祥紀念獎學金頒發給每年品德、表現突出的學生；
- 總統傑出學業獎頒給初中兩年始終保持學業平均成績5以上的八年級學生；
- 總統傑出畢業生獎則頒給四年來學業平均成績5以上的十二年級學生。
- 為七位八年級畢學生頒發升學證書。
After the guest speeches, there was a series of award ceremonies:
- The Jerry Huang Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is given annually to students who exemplify outstanding moral conduct.
- President’s Education Awards: This award is given to middle school students who have demonstrated academic excellence by earning at least a 3.5 GPA throughout two of their years.
- 12th grade Presidential Awards: This award is given to students who demonstrated academic excellence by earning as least a 3.5 GPA throughout their entire four years in high school.
- Certificates of Promotion: These were given to each of the eighth graders, promoting them from middle to high school.
最後終於進入畢業生演講環節。
Finally, it was time for the graduates to give their speeches. Here are some highlights from each:
龔普澤：人生就是一次次幸福的的相聚，夾雜着一次次傷感的别離。我不是在最好的時光遇見了你們，而是遇見了你們，我才有了這段最好的時光。
Puze Gong: “Life is a series of happy reunions, mixed with sad partings. I didn’t meet you at the best time, but it was because I met you that I had the best time.”
李銀峻：我永遠不会忘記培德男校的一切，這裡承載了太多珍貴的回憶。我會記得學校教會我的如何成為品德端正的人，銘記宿舍中朋友間的真摯情誼，以及師生間互動的每一個瞬間。我將把所學融會貫通，努力成為優秀的公民，為社區乃至世界更美好的未來作出貢獻。
Steven Li: “I will never forget everything about IGDVS. This place holds too many precious memories. I will remember how the school taught me to become a person with good morals; I will remember the genuine friendship among dorm mates; and I will remember every moment of interaction between teachers and students. I will take all that I have learned from IGDVS and become an outstanding citizen who will contribute to make our community and the world a better place.”
吳濱帆：在對老師一一表達的自己的感恩之情後，吳濱帆如此說道：「我也特別想感謝順法師。法師總能在我們最窘迫難受的時候，用幽默的方式為我們化解尷尬與痛苦。很感激能在敏感的少年時期遇見這樣的老師。 」
Lucas Wu：After expressing his gratitude to the teachers one by one, Lucas said: “I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dharma Master Shun. He always knew how to ease our awkward or difficult moments with humor. I’m truly grateful to have met such a teacher during my teenage years.”
皮果蓀老師是培德中學的前任校長，同時也是一位常年奉獻教育、引領學生的良師益友，他為本校2025界畢業班三位學生頒發畢業證書。
Mr. Randall Peterson is a former principal of Developing Virtue Boys’ School as well as a longtime teacher and mentor to many. He bestowed the diplomas to the Class of 2025 of Developing Virtue Boys’ School.
畢業典禮便在此美好的氣氛中落下帷幕：畢業生們被嘉賓簇擁著，同學、老師、親友們為他們送上祝福。畢業生及其家長紛紛向老師們道謝，他們的眼眶濕潤了，滿含激動和欣慰。人們拍照留念，嘴角欣慰的微笑，眼角閃爍的淚花，濃濃的惜別之情，發自內心的感恩，都被定格在此時此刻。
The graduation ceremony came to an end in this wonderful atmosphere. The graduates were surrounded by guests, and classmates, teachers, relatives, and friends who gave them their blessings. The teachers received heartfelt expressions of gratitude from students and parents alike. Their eyes were moist and filled with excitement and joy. People took numerous photos to commemorate the occasion, capturing the ecstatic smiles on their lips, the tears in their eyes, their reluctance to part ways, and the sincerest gratitude from their hearts.

培德女校 提供 By Developing Virtue Girls School
On June 5, 2025, birds’ chirps and clear skies welcomed the new graduates to their new journey after Developing Virtue Secondary School. Balloons and colorful ribbons filled the Wonderful Worlds Hall, celebrating the moment of joy with the graduates. There are three graduates in the class of 2025, Katrina Hu, Ashley Dong, and Celina Li. They will be going to University of British Columbia, UC San Diego and UC Davis in the fields of psychology, biochemistry, and agriculture and food science, respectively.
2025年的六月五日晴空萬裡。鳥兒們用清亮的叫聲，慶賀著培德女校新一屆畢業生人生新旅程的開始。妙語堂掛滿了五彩繽紛的裝飾，標示著畢業生們的歡欣與不捨。今年的三位畢業生，胡冠儀將前往加拿大的英屬哥倫比亞大學攻讀心理學，董家鈺會到加州大學聖地牙哥分校學習生物化學，而李悅希即將前往加州大學戴維斯分校研究食物與食品科學。
To open up the graduation, the school principal, Jin Jr Shr, gave a speech to the graduates. “You have been equipped with extraordinary tools and philosophies in life that nurtures the gifts within.” Jin Jr Shr believed that everyone has their own talents, and that they should always be aware of their gifts, as she said, “We are like a kernel in the husk, a gold bar in the mud, a treasure chest under a poor person’s home…”
畢業典禮開始，首先，女校校長近智師向畢業生致詞。 「你們擁有非凡的人生智慧和人生哲學，能夠滋養你們內在的天賦。」近智師認為每個人都有自己的天賦，我們應該時刻意識到自己的天賦，她說道：「我們就像果殼裡的一粒仁，泥土裡的一塊金條，窮人家底下的寶箱……」
Dr. Patterson, the high school history teacher, expressed her wishes toward the graduates, “I’m asking you to recognize the learning, understanding and the wonderful gifts that you bring from DVGS, which you are now ready to offer to the world and which will guide you in whatever the future holds.” She believed that the future is unpredictable, but it is always important to keep what the graduates have learnt in school, so they would always have the essential principles to guide them in the society, and will never get lost.
佩特森博士身為資歷最深的培德女校高中歷史老師，對畢業生們的未來表示了誠摯的期許。 「我希望你們牢記在培德女校學校學到的知識與學問，它們將是你們未知未來中的指南針，也是你們帶給世界的厚禮。」她忠告畢業生們，一定要時刻把培德女校所給予她們的知識銘記於心。儘管未來不可預測，培德女校教給畢業生們的道理，永遠會是指引她們前路的一盞明燈。
As a volunteer teacher and alumni from twenty years ago, Ms. Phi also congratulated the graduates. “Even though these memories are vignettes, they are part of the tapestry of who I am today.” Ms. Phi was a part of the DVGS community where she gained a lot of valuable experiences, just as the graduates are now. Ms. Phi believes that the memories and experiences from DVGS are essential in turning someone into who they are, and wishes the graduates to always cherish their memories from the school. Graduation is not the end, but the beginning of a new journey.
已經畢業二十年的校友兼志工老師費如孝，也對畢業生們表達了誠摯的祝福。 「儘管我只記得一些在培德女校學習的片段，但它們是我人生長河中不可或缺的一部分。」就像今年的畢業生一樣，費如孝也曾是培德女校的一分子，並在這裡獲得了許多珍貴的回憶。她認為記憶和經驗是塑造人格的關鍵，因此畢業生應該將她們在培德女校的回憶珍藏於心。畢業不是結束，而是新的開始。
Katrina’s father, Mr. Xinhua Hu, spoke about his gratitude toward the school and pride in his daughter’s growth. He recalled how Katrina quickly transformed from someone timid to a really independent and mature girl after being in DVGS for a single year. Even though he didn’t want to send his daughter far away from home at a that time, he is really grateful that he had made the right decision. “May this year’s graduates continually strive for excellence and become the best versions of themselves.”
本屆畢業生胡冠儀的父親胡新華表達了他對培德女校的感激以及對女兒成長的自豪。他回憶了自己的女兒在來培德女校一年後的飛速成長，即使他並不願意讓女兒在年幼時遠離家人，但現在的他非常感激自己做出了正確的決定，讓胡冠儀的個人成長突飛猛進。 「祝福今年的畢業生永遠追求卓越，成為最好的自己。」
Ms. Yidan Wang, the junior high class core teacher, wrote a warm messages to each rising freshmen. “Know you are worthy, stay curious open, bringing vibes of cooling and healing.” Ms. Yidan was inspired by the bright and positive energy from the teens, and hopes that the 8th graders can keep their confidence, explore more areas of study and life, while helping others, as they move on to high school.
除了高中畢業生之外，初中班的班主任王一丹老師也為即將升上高中的新生們創作了一首短詩。 「知道你的價值，保持好奇心和開放的心態，帶來清涼和治癒的氛圍。」王老師被青少年身上散發出的陽光正能量所鼓舞，她希望八年級的學生們在邁向高中的道路上，能夠保持自信，探索學習和生活的更多領域，並幫助他人。
Accompanied by flowers and laughter, the graduates have accomplished an important milestone of their life. With the eight core virtues and the precious memories, they move on to a bright future ahead.
