凡是出家人依止師長修學，應當依照前面〈威儀門第二〉與〈第三〉兩章的內容來實踐，這裡就不再重複說明了。至於在家居士如何侍奉師長，現今真正能身體力行的人並不多，因此暫且不作空泛的討論。
When attending on a teacher, monastics should follow the guidelines set out in Sections II and III of the Twenty-Four Gates of Deportment; these will not be repeated here. As for lay practitioners, few are presently able to put these teachings into practice, so discussing them in detail would be of limited use.
所謂侍奉師長，就是以恭敬心親近、照顧並依教奉行。若有一兩位已皈依的信徒願意隨侍長老，也可以依照〈威儀門·事師章〉中的規範來學習實踐，因此同樣不必在此贅述。To serve a teacher means to attend to and support one’s spiritual mentor with respect and care. Lay disciples who have taken refuge and assist senior monastics may also follow the section “Serving One’s Teacher” in the Twenty-Four Gates of Deportment. For this reason, there is no need to restate those guidelines here.♦
